Henley Advisors was founded to address the growing need of corporate clients for unbiased, independent strategic and financial advice. The growing complexity and time pressures of today’s challenging business and regulatory climate have made such advice all the more critical. However, many companies are finding it increasingly difficult to get satisfactory strategic and financial advice from their traditional external advisors, the investment banks and consulting firms.
As traditional investment banks have grown and consolidated over the past several years, the level and quality of advisory service they have been willing and able to give to all but their largest corporate clients has clearly deteriorated. Focus on deals has replaced traditional relationship banking, and proprietary trading and corporate lending have broadened the potential conflicts of interest banks have always struggled with in relation to their clients.
On the other hand, traditional consulting firms are usually not qualified to offer meaningful insight into how financial markets can affect a firm’s strategic and financial choices, or indeed how those strategic choices can constrain what is possible for a company to achieve in financing and M&A transactions in the future.
What many companies need is an advisor experienced in both financial markets and the strategic issues of their industries who can help them develop strategy in anticipation of events, advise them in the execution of transactions, and offer them ongoing counsel in the aftermath. This is the role that we seek to perform for our clients.
